I think I should probably make a tag for these, since most of my shopping seems to come from Dundrum these days! This most recent visit has been to McCabes and M&S. I also visited Boots, but they are STILL out of Hydraluron. My supplies of that stuff are now running dangerously low, and I’m beginning to get concerned!

From top: Catrice Gel Eyeliner Brush ~€4
Holly Sharpe for M&S Limited Collection Face Palette €16
Catrice Smokey Eyes Brush ~€4
Catrice Eyebrow Lifter ~€4
Catrice Eyebrow Filler ~€4
Catrice Made to Stay Inside Eye Highlighter Pen ~€4
Catrice Made to Stay Highlighter Pen ~€4

As you can see, I went on a bit of a Catrice spree today! They’re one of my favourite budget brands– I prefer to try new-to-me products in budget offerings before splashing the cash on a more expensive brand. That way, I have fewer regrets and more pennies if I find whatever-it-is doesn’t work well for me. I have to say, though, Catrice have impressed me with their quality, and their prices are phenomenal. Double-ended brushes for under a fiver? Consider me sold.

Apologies for the estimated prices above; mum took the McCabes receipt home with her, so I’m going by memory. As far as I can recall, though, nothing I bought there was over a fiver, which I think is pretty excellent. I’ll be doing more detailed reviews of the individual items as I use them over the coming weeks. I have to confess: I’m most excited about the brow gel, because brows are a serious bone of contention for me, and I’m always on the lookout for something that will give mine the perfect touch. Here’s hoping I’ve struck gold here! I’m currently using Benefit Brow Duo, and I’ll be curious to measure this gel version against a powder product.

The last item I picked up, in M&S, is kind of a funny one. I was debating some Stila palettes in Harvey Nichols today, each of which were €32. Not bad, I thought, for ten shadows– at €3.20 a pop, that’s good value. Here are the two I was considering:

Cute, right? There are two other sets in the range, but they’re way too similar to the Naked palettes I already own for me to consider. These, though… There’s a nice enough mix of blues, greens, pinks, purples, and neutrals that I thought they were worth considering. I was giving some serious thought to purchasing both of these when I spotted this palette from M&S. Here’s what it looks like opened out:

As mentioned previously, I’m no fan of Limited Edition products, but I couldn’t pass this one up. Can you spot the similarities in colours to the Stila palettes above? This M&S one is half the price of one of those, with bonus lipglosses and blushers to boot! I’m super excited about this find. I swatched them on my hand in the store, and the colour payoff seemed to be pretty decent, although the staying power of course is slightly less than the Stila offerings. (I’m guessing a bit of primer will fix that, though.) The colours aren’t exactly the same, either; the purple is a little more wine, and there’s a green and a turquoise rather than a teal… But that actually works out better for me, so I’m very pleased with my purchase. I’ll do a more thorough write-up on it once I’ve had a chance to use it, but I think this is going to be a good buy.

My makeup drawer is beginning to become a bit cluttered with palettes, so I think it’s time I give shopping for them a break… With the possible exception of the new Urban Decay brights one, when I can get my grubby hands on it, because that thing just looks amazing.

Are you a palette fiend? Are you a lover of Catrice or M&S offerings? Do you have a favourite budget beauty brand you’d like to share? Drop me a line and let me know!
