OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Here’s my latest OOTD! Head over to anez.me for the full breakdown. ♥

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

I am dog rough sick today, so here’s a little OOTD from earlier in the week to keep my schedule until I’m feeling better!

 ootd18 Sweater: M&S
Leggings: M&S
Boots: UGG
Scarf: Hermes

I am so very, very sick! Every time I swallow it’s like someone smacks me on both sides of the throat. I’ve had a super busy week that I’m looking forward to talking about once I’m better though, so it was totally worth it for the experience!

Are you guys feeling well? Are you sick like me? Have you done anything fun this week? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

It’s not the end of January yet, so I’m still hiding in whatever giant clothes I can get my hands one!

ootd13 Sweaterdress: Armani
Leggings: Marks & Spencer
Bag: Prada
Boots: UGG
Headband: Claire’s Accessories
Necklace: Vintage

This is a pretty boring outfit, so the key pieces are definitely the accessories– namely that cute feathered headband and the giant swirly necklace I’m wearing in place of a scarf today. The headband is from Claire’s, of all places, and I think it cost about €3? I love it so much, but it gives me a headache, so every single time I wear it, I take it off in the car on the way home. And then forget about it. There it languishes for months until I remember to bring it up again, and then I wear it out, and the cycle starts anew.

The necklace is a recent addition to my wardrobe; a gift from my aunt for helping her out with some computer woes she’d been having. Isn’t it pretty? I’m absolutely in love with it. I’m pretty sure it’s costume and it’s incredibly heavy on the neck, but it’s so pretty I’m going to wear it tons anyway!

What accessories are you loving at the moment? Do you have any recent fun additions to your wardrobe? Is there any piece in your wardrobe that you love but rarely wear because you keep misplacing it? Drop me a line and let me know!

RECENT PURCHASES: JANUARY SALES

I did eventually manage to hit the January sales– better late than never, I say, and definitely also better when not grossly overcrowded and crazy. Here’s what I picked up:

17polish

These gorgeous nail polishes are from Boots’ Seventeen range. They’re just €3, which I think is astonishing for such gorgeous colours. I’ve got #49 Blue Glitter and #57 Green Gold Shimmer here, which I’m looking forward to trying out– even if I suspect I am going to need bucketloads of nail polish remover for taking them off since they’re pretty intensely glittery. (Whoever can invent something which takes off glitter polish without an hour’s worth of scrubbing is going to be one rich person, let me tell you.)

bushes

I’ve been wanting to add some new eye shadow brushes to my collection for a while now, and unfortunately the only website on which I could find Sigma brushes had none in stock. Consequently, I gave up on web shopping and hied myself to the Mac counter in BT2– I was hoping to save myself a few quid by not buying the MAC ones, but in the end, I decided to just save myself the headache.

It’s not really so terrible; online shopping is a pain in my backside, if I’m honest. I always prefer a bricks-and-mortar retailer wherever possible, since that way I get to bring the goodies home in my hot little hands and not spend a week obsessively tracking my package to try to determine what day it might arrive. Even if you can figure out what day it might come, that means a whole day spent shivering with the living room door open so you’re sure to hear the doorbell, watching your hideously expensive heating flowing into the hall while you rock back and forth from a combination of chill and the inability to take a bathroom break in case the doorbell rings while you’re in there and you can’t scramble out in time to catch the postman before he leaves. (I really don’t handle waiting for deliveries well, okay?)

Since this was a regular retailer, I got to bring home my goodies from the MAC counter as well as two others I picked up in in M&S in their sale for €4 (from their own Autograph range) and €8 (from Pur Brushes). The MAC ones were not on sale, and were about €20 each (ouch). I picked up #217 (I didn’t have one, if you can believe that) and #224. I’ll be excited to compare them to the Real Techniques ones I use daily and the M&S ones you can see here.

BT2

While picking up my brushes, I also quite naughtily found my way into the downstairs of BT2. Oops? That said, I got two great bargains– this lovely little Whistles parka was 50% off at €100. It’s insanely warm, and fills the White-Coat-shaped gap in my wardrobe quite nicely. The shoes were something of a random buy– like my red runners, they’re actually for a costume event I’m going to later in the year (I’ll be doing, among other things, a casual version of Princess Anna from Frozen), but I’m actually rather taken with them. They were €60, down from €95, and the embroidery is gorgeous. I bought them in a size up in the hopes of being able to wear them with a heel insert to protect my irritatingly vulnerable Achilles tendon, so we shall see how that goes. (And if it doesn’t work, I’ll just have to… Let it go?)

MandS1

Lastly, I stopped by M&S to see what was available in their sale. In addition to the two brushes I already mentioned, I picked up two body scrubs– they were only €4 each, and they were also on a “Buy One Get One Half Price” offer, which means I got the two of them for the princely sum of €6! I’m a big fan of body scrubs, so hopefully these will work out for me. Neither Lemon nor Cocoa Butter is really my favourite scent, but they’re nice enough and at that price you really can’t argue.

I also picked up a lighted mirror on half price in Boots… And something else which I suspect deserves its own post which I’ll be talking about soon. My sale shopping was quite restrained this year, but considering the bumper Christmas and Birthday I had, I can hardly complain! I’m not exactly hurting for clothes or makeup, and I’m hoping to spend less and shop my closet more in 2015. I have so much lovely stuff that hasn’t been worn nearly enough, after all.

Did you get anything nice in the sales? Are you holding out for prices to drop even further? Or are you on a shop-your-closet-in-2015 kick, too? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

It is nice to be able to take these again without cowering in the elevator! Off to Dundrum in this, so fortunately I don’t have to wrap up too warm despite this bitter winter weather…

 ootd2 Jacket: Vintage
Sweater: M&S
Pants: Under Armour
Bag: Prada
Scarf: Hermes
Shoes: Prada

I know it’s only December, but I can’t help hoping winter ends early this year! I hate wearing too many layers. Mum keeps giving me a hard time about not wearing heavier coats, but I just hate being weighed down by all that extra material!

I really do love this sweater, though; the pattern is really pretty, but it’s low-key enough that I don’t feel it’s too obvious or draws too much attention when I wear it. Still, I think it looks best with a plain scarf, so that’s what I’ve paired it with here. This scarf is probably one of my favourites: plain black, but printed with the Ex Libris pattern so it has a subtle shimmer, it’s really versatile and goes with most things in my wardrobe.

What accessories are you pairing with your prints this season? Are you wishing for winter to end? Or are you a fan of chilly weather cover-ups? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

I fixed my mirror! Incredibly poorly, and with a lot of double-sided tape, but it’s better than trying to furtively snap pics in the darkness of the elevator while the poor neighbours wait outside.

 ootd1 Jacket: Vintage
Sweater:
M&S
Scarf: Hermes
Boots: UGG
Jeans: Vintage
Bag: Balenciaga

Still wearing this scarf a lot– I love it so much! It just seems to go with absolutely everything. Still sticking with my blue theme in general, really, and wanted something comfy and warm to go shopping in. My hair is thankfully starting to get properly long again, for which I am very glad. It’s so close to the length I want it to be! Just an inch or two more.

These jeans basically belong to the sisterhood of the travelling pants. They came to me from my mother, who I believe got them from her niece, who might have got them from their mum? They’re really old and soft and broken-in, though, so I love them.

Do you have any beloved cast-offs? What accessories can you just not put down? Have you started wearing your Christmas jumpers yet? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Another day, another sad elevator photo! I tried to repair my mirror, but I don’t seem to be particularly skilled with spray glue– instead of sticking the mirror to the frame, I ended up sticking my hair to the frame and the mirror to the carpet. Will try again with different glue another day! Until then, you get another elevator pic:

Jumper: M&S
Bag: Baleciaga
Pants: Under Armor
Boots: UGG

Heading off to Dundrum in this one, as you can probably tell by the lack of thermals and shawls! Wearing all my blues here as I wanted to match a blue ring I just got back from resizing. You can’t see it, but I’m also wearing a watch with a blue dial, blue earrings, and a blue stone bracelet. This gorgeous electric shade is one of my favourites, and I love how slouchy and easy to wear this bag is. The sweater was a snip in the M&S sale, and the colour goes perfectly with this gorgeous Hermes scarf that my mother bought me for Christmas a few years ago.

Do you colour-match your accessories to your outfits? What colours are you loving right now? Are you a fan of colour-matching, or is it all just a bit too twee for you? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Another OOTD, another elevator photo. I REALLY need to get my mirror situation sorted out, don’t I?

 ootd03 Hat: Hermes
Coat:
Dunnes
Sweaterdress: Armani
Leggings: M&S
Shirt: Primark
Boots: UGG
Shawl: Hermes
Bag: Prada

You know it’s winter when my list of items doubles in length, sigh. Breaking out my trusty red winter coat here– a sale purchase in Dunnes some years ago but which I still adore. It has a really cute cut and I haven’t seen too many like it. I usually pair it with my favourite Hermes felt and velvet hat because it has a red inner trim, which you can just see peeking out from behind my giant phone.

Fully unseen is the Primark thermal undershirt I’m wearing, and my god, does that save my bacon during the winter. When it’s just not possible to wear a turtleneck, this absolutely does the business, and they are cheap as chips. I can wholeheartedly recommend them!

Have you rediscovered your winter best? Do you love layering? What winter accessories are you rocking recently?  Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Just realised I never got to post this OOTD, so here it is now!

ootd10 Sweater: M&S
Leggings: Under Armour
Boots: UGG
Scarf: Hermes
Bag: Balenciaga

You can tell this is an old one because this was from before my mirror broke, haha. I’m so in love with this scarf– it’s one I picked up in Atlanta when I was there in September, and it has the most gorgeous blue and grey colour scheme which inspired this whole outfit. Quite fond of this little sweater, too, which I bought in the Autumn sale at M&S. Around this time of year, you can’t possibly have enough jumpers, I reckon, and Marks and Sparks do some really lovely ones.

What colour combinations are you rocking these days? Are you a jumper addict like me? Have you picked up any good sale bargains recently? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Dashing off to the shops in this one, and with the weather cooling, the scarves and boots are back in force!

ootd20 Sweater: M&S
Leggings: Dunnes
Boots: UGG
Scarf: Hermes
Bag: Hermes

Still rocking the Birkin here, because once I break that baby out, I hate putting it away again! I’m also making a proper effort to wear more of my scarves this coming autumn, starting with this beauty. I love this one, although I rarely wear it: because it’s so colourful, it’s a little hard to coordinate it with everything else. Can’t beat black and white for ease of matching, though!

What colour combinations are you rocking these days? What accessories can’t you put down? What items are you trying to wear more? Drop me a line and let me know!
