OUTFIT OF THE DAY

I so wanted to start 2015 with an extra awesome OOTD, but considering that I’m still feeling the effect of Christmas eating, I also want to hide under a big blanket, size XXXL. I ended up compromising by wearing this:

ootd5 Scarf: Hermes
Jumper: Tommy Hilfiger
Bag: Hermes
Jeans: 7 for All Mankind
Shoes: Sketchers

Breaking in some new shoes here– they’re actually for a costume at an event later in the year, but I thought it might be wise to break them in somewhere else first. This was definitely a good idea, because by the time I got home, I wanted a foot masseuse under that giant blanket I mentioned. (That sounds dirtier than I intended it to be…)

I’m hoping they won’t hurt quite so much once they’re broken in, because I was perfectly fine for the first two hours, it was only by hour four that the ache really started. The reason for this is because they have a kind of hidden wedge heel, which is my absolute favourite thing– I might be complaining about them hurting, but I think we all know that I wouldn’t even consider wearing a “regular” heel for four or five hours walking around the mall. I’d be in pain by minute four, much less hour four, so these are a nice option when you want to add some height but still have some walking to do.

I’m working (albeit slowly) on shedding my Christmas pounds, so hopefully future OOTDs will be a little more exciting– especially once the good weather swings back around!

Have you put Christmas behind you, or are you feeling Christmas on your behind? Do you have beautiful clothes waiting until you feel better to wear them? Or were you good over the holidays and find yourself greeting January with gleeful and confident smugness? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Winter is definitely here, and biting, so I’ve fallen back on the big guns: cashmere shawls and heavy jackets! I had so surrender my lighter leather jacket for this heavier, fleece-lined option… Which actually belongs to my Mum. Mum suffers from the cold even worse than I do (if you can imagine that), so for her, this is actually a spring jacket, not the winter coat it seems to me! Silver lining, though: I get to keep it until it warms enough that she can cast off her blanket-coat and jump into this, at which point I’ll move back to my usual (lighter) jacket. Everyone wins when mother and daughter end up the same clothes size! 😀

ootd22 Jacket: Barneys
Shawl: Hermes
Jumper: Tommy Hilfiger
Bag: Prada
Jeans: 7 For All Mankind
Boots: UGG

Probably not my best look, but as I was wandering the streets of Dublin in this, it kept me pleasantly warm, which was what was needed! I’m also giving my new birthday bag is inaugural outing. It’s a little stiffer than my older one, which will take some getting used to, but I think it will loosen up a little bit over time– and until then, I’m very happy with how it looks!

Are you all set up for Christmas yet? Are all your cards written, and all your pressies wrapped? Are you looking forward to the festive season, or just looking forward to it all being over? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Visiting town in this one, and since I was spending the day in BTs, I thought I should try to look a little sharp!

 ootd3 Jacket: Vintage
Scarf: Hermes
Sweater: Tommy Hilfiger
Jeans: Dunnes
Boots: UGG
Bag: Balenciaga

I really wanted to wear my salmon Karen Millen jacket with this to match the colours in the scarf, but it was just too damn cold! I’m so over this winter chill– can it be Spring now, please?

I’m definitely not over this scarf, though; I’ve had it for quite some time, but I haven’t actually worn it properly before this. I love the colours– there’s a nice balance of colour and neutrals, and I really love that pop of mint. It goes perfectly with this bag, which I’ve had forever, but don’t wear nearly as often as I should!

What items are you rediscovering in your closet this winter? Are you praying for Spring to come early? Or is Christmas all you can think about? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

The good weather has definitely departed, and it’s time to bundle up warm. Alas, with the ongoing Ebola scare, I’m not in any hurry to embark on International air travel, so I’m stuck with Ireland’s terrible weather for the foreseeable future.

ootd28 Jacket: Vintage
Shawl: Hermes
Polo: Dunnes
Jumper: Tommy Hilfiger
Bag: Hermes
Jeans: Armani
Shoes: Prada

I love these jeans, but because I’m short and they’re long, I only get to wear them when I’m wearing heels. These hidden wedge Prada sneakers were picked up in the BT sale this January, and I absolutely adore them. They’re not as comfortable as Uggs or even normal runners, but they’re infinitely more comfortable than any other heels you might want to try.

This bag is also a favourite: it’s stylish while also being practical– gotta love those cross-body straps! Hopefully I’ll get my mirror situation squared up soon, but until then, you’ll just have to make do with my terrible elevator photography.

Have you dug out your winter wear yet? Do you also struggle with too-long pants?  Are you rocking seasonal neutrals or brightening up with colours? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Another visit to Dundrum today to pick up some bits and pieces for a friend’s impending visit! Had to get some things to make sure her bedroom is cosy enough– I haven’t had anyone to stay with me in ages.

ootd-03 Sweater: Mulberry
Jeans: Tommy Hilfiger
T-Shirt: Dunnes
Scarf: Hermes
Boots: Ugg

This is the sweater that I picked up in Kildare Outlets a while ago, and the first time I’ve worn it. I absolutely love how it looks, but my god, I ought to have washed the damn thing before wearing it over a black t-shirt. There are little bits of grey fluff EVERYWHERE. A few minutes with the lint roller sorted out my problem and restored my t-shirt to (reasonable) good health, but there’s nothing that irks me more than clothes that put fluffies on other clothes…! It’s probably my own fault, since I’m prone to wearing warm, grey things –the guiltiest of culprits in this crime– but it’s still a right pain in the backside. I shall have to wash it alone and flush the washing machine afterwards to prevent it from happening again!

Are you plagued by fluff? Do you have any fluff-prevention techniques you’d like to share? Do you just not buy things that shed, or do you just not notice? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Off to town in this, so I needed something that was warm, comfortable, and cute! I’ve also discovered a handy tip: don’t want your scarf getting smeared with lipstick while it slaps you in the face and makes you look like a prat? Tuck it into the neck of your sweater! It looks like a really pretty blouse while you have the comfort of wearing a t-shirt, and you don’t have to worry about damaging your scarf. Bonus!

ootd01 Jacket: Vintage
Bag: Prada (Galarie Layfayette, Paris)
Sweater: Tommy Hifiger
Scarf: Hermes
T-Shirt: Oasis
Jeans: 7 for All Mankind
Boots: Uggs

Do you have any top scarf tips? Are you forever worried about getting makeup on your clothes? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

From a few days ago, here’s a casual, comfy outfit for going to the movies and seeing Captain America! Rocking a simple black-and-white theme today with very low-key makeup, as most of the focus is taken by this gorgeous scarf. This is one of my newer scarf babies (from January, I think), and I hadn’t had a chance to wear it yet. It’s pretty bright and eye-catching, so I decided to keep the rest of the outfit simple in order to let it shine.

ootd17 Sweater: Tommy Hilfiger
Scarf: Hermes (Brown Thomas)
T-Shirt: Oasis
Jeans: Dunnes Stores
Boots: Uggs (Brown Thomas)
Bag: Longchamp (Galeries Lafayette)

Are you a scarf fan? How do you prefer to work colours into your outfits? Drop me a line and let me know!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Much as I love this outfit, I got completely caught off-guard with it: the weather was supposed to be sunny and not-cold, but instead it was BALTIC and rainy. My Uggs didn’t quite get ruined, but I did spend a lot of time trying to protect my poor shawl from the elements! Spring can not come soon enough for my liking; I’m so fed up of grey, overcast skies that constantly have water falling out of them! Apologies for the grainy photo; iPhone cameras are pretty much null and void in low-light-level conditions, and it was incredibly dull when I got home.

Sweater: Tommy Hilfiger (Tommy Hilfiger)
Thermal T-Shirt: Primark
Shawl: Hermes (Hermes Sale)
Skinny Jeans: Primark
Shoes: Uggs (Brown Thomas)
Pink Bracelet: Hermes (Hermes Sale)

I love how the shawl and scarf are almost exactly the same colour. I’m a big fan of the matchy-matchy style, at least some of the time– I just don’t feel comfortable with too many colours on!

Are you into the matchy-matchy look, or are you a proponent of riotious colour clash explosions? Drop me a line and let me know!
